28 food-service establishments in violation

Anne Arundel County health officials inspected 120 food-service establishments from Feb. 16 to 28. They found 28 with critical food-safety violations that were corrected. None was so bad that the establishments had to be closed.

The inspectors cited five establishments for multiple violations: Old Country Buffet in the 6600 block of Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie for food not being adequately cooked and reheated, or held at the proper temperature.

Gami Oriental Food Store, 801 S. Crain Highway in Glen Burnie, for distributing food not from an approved source and for not holding food at the proper temperature.

Wendy's Old Fashioned Hamburgers, 7399 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd. in Glen Burnie, for not keeping food adequately cooled and not holding food at proper temperature.

The Gourmet Connection, 658-B Ritchie Highway, Severna Park, for not holding food at proper temperature and for serving unadulterated or spoiled food.

Popeye's of Brooklyn Park at 5317 Ritchie Highway, for not holding food at the proper temperature and for having a malfunctioning sewage-disposal system.

Eighteen restaurants were cited for not holding food at proper temperature:

Rocky Run Restaurant in the mall at Marley Station in Glen Burnie; Romano's Macaroni Grill, 178 Jennifer Road, Annapolis; 7-Eleven, 1527 Forest Drive, Annapolis; Horn and Horn Buffet, 7315 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park; La Fontaine Bleu, 7514 S. Ritchie Highway, Glen Burnie; Sbarro's at Marley Station Mall in Glen Burnie.

Haney's Grocery and Deli, 1272 Stoney Run Road, Hanover; 7-Eleven at 3250 Fort Meade Road, Laurel; Middleton Tavern, 2 Market Space, Annapolis; Wendy's Old Fashioned Hamburgers, 714 Nursery Road, Linthicum; the Wild Orchid Cafe, 909 Bay Ridge Ave., Annapolis; Szechuan Inn, 558 Benfield Road, Severna Park.

Wendy's Old Fashioned Hamburgers, 6910 Crain Highway, Glen Burnie; Herald Harbor Inn and Mart, 400 Herald Harbor Road, Herald Harbor; Nordstrom Cafe in Annapolis Mall; Quik Shop/Blimpie's, 2044 West St., Annapolis; 7-Eleven at 1582 Annapolis Road, Odenton, and Laurel Race Track Kitchen, 3600 Laurel Fort Meade Road, Laurel.

Papa John's Pizza, 2068 Sommerville Road, Annapolis, was cited for food workers who did not practice effective hand-washing. Kyoto Steak House, 568-C Ritchie Highway, Severna Park, was cited for food that was not from an approved source.

The Royal Farms Store at 250 Mountain Road in Pasadena was cited for having a malfunctioning sewage-disposal system. Nick's Corner Bakery, 5809-E Deale Churchton Road, Deale, was cited for having adulterated or spoiled food. Chris' Charcoal Pit, 1946 West St., Annapolis, was cited for not having food properly cooled.
