A sweet trip

Come sate your sweet tooth and learn something too at the 28th Annual Maple Syrup Heritage Festival, where Cunningham Falls State Park personnel will demonstrate the tree-tapping and sap-boiling processes. There will be a video presentation of the history of maple sugar production, children's stories about maple sugaring and a tour through the park on horse-drawn carriages (for a small fee). Also featured will be a display of antique farm machinery and mountain crafts. Best of all, the park's food concession will serve breakfast all day for those wanting to savor fresh maple syrup.

The free festival will take place in the William Houck Area of Cunningham Falls State Park in Frederick County Saturday, Sunday and March 21-22. The demonstrations will run from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. For more information, call 301-271-7574 or 301-663-8687.

All that jazz

Enjoy six days of jazz heaven at the Eighth Annual Berks Jazz Fest. Some of today's best jazz musicians will perform, including the sensual and smooth Boney James. Other performers include the Latin Jazz of Pancho Sanchez, the Heads Up Super Band, who have decided to record live at Berks for their new album, and Bela Fleck and the Flecktones in concert with the Reading Symphony Orchestra as part of Reading, Pa.'s 250th birthday celebration.

This year's festival will be held from Tuesday through March 22 in Reading, Pa. For prices, schedules, concert venues and other information and tickets, call 888-523-3781.
