Nicholas J. Pawlina, 82, stationed at Fort Meade

Nicholas J. Pawlina, a former Pasadena resident who served in the Army Counterintelligence Corps, died Feb. 11 at Estelle Hospice House in Ocala, Fla.

Pawlina, 82, a native of Rhode Island, served in the Army stationed at Fort Meade and retired as a sergeant major in 1962. After that, he worked in a number of jobs for the U.S. government and as a polygraph operator for the Baltimore police. He moved to Florida 22 years ago.

He is survived by a son, Jonathan N. Pawlina of Safety Harbor, Fla.; a daughter, Kathryn C. Wachter of Sykesville; a sister, Margaret P. Houde of Peasantville, N.J.; and five grandchildren.

A memorial Mass was held Saturday at St. Athanasius Catholic Church in Baltimore.
