Sears forms partnership with Hammond High

March 06, 1998

The Sears store at The Mall in Columbia has formed an educational partnership with Hammond High School and Howard County public schools.

Sears will offer training in business skills by conducting mock interviews with students and providing information about job openings at the store. Students who get jobs -- and work a total of 780 hours -- will be eligible for a Sears program that reimburses up to 75 percent of tuition for post-secondary education.

In return, Hammond will offer Sears employees complimentary passes to school events and will recognize the partnership in school communications.

An educational partnership declaration among the school, school system and store was signed Tuesday at The Waterside Restaurant at the Columbia Inn Hotel & Conference Center, 10207 Wincopin Circle.
