Classical Music

Orli Shaham, whom many consider one of the biggest pianistic talents of her generation, will appear at Goucher College next week for several free public events.

The 22-year-old pianist is the favorite sonata partner of her celebrated older brother, violinist Gil Shaham. But in the past few years, as a consequence of several prestigious prizes and enthusiastically received debuts with the Philadelphia and Cleveland orchestras, Orli has begun to forge her own identity.

In Goucher's Merrick Hall on Monday, she will give a lecture-demonstration (at 1: 30 p.m.) and a master class (at 7: 30 p.m.). On Tuesday at 8 p.m., she will give a recital of works by Bach, Beethoven, Schubert, Schumann and Chopin.

Though all events at Goucher College's Merrick Hall, Dulaney Valley Road in Towson, are free, it is advisable to call the Goucher box office at 410-337-6333 for reservations or for more information.
