Virginia routs Mercyhurst, 17-2 Radebaugh scores 4 goals as Cavs even record at 1-1

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- Tucker Radebaugh (St. Paul's) had four goals and two assists as No. 4 Virginia routed Mercyhurst, 17-2, before 200 at University Hall Turf Field yesterday.

The Cavaliers (1-1), who opened their season with an overtime loss to Syracuse, outshot the Lakers 77-20. It was the season opener for Mercyhurst.

Virginia scored the first six goals of the game. The Cavaliers extended their lead to 12-1 at halftime as Radebaugh had three goals and two assists in the first half.

Virginia's starting attack of Radebaugh, Drew McKnight and Jay Jalbert combined for seven goals and five assists. Jason Hard, last year's Atlantic Coast Conference Rookie of the Year, won 15 of his 16 faceoffs as well as scoring a goal.

The Cavaliers play host to top-ranked Princeton on Saturday.
