Claudio Villas Boas,82, an anthropologist who fought for the right of Brazil's indigenous people to live in their jungle habitat, died of a heart attack yesterday at his home in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Dr. Rachmiel Levine,87, whose experiments on how insulin increases the body's use of blood sugars overturned conventional scientific belief and set new courses for diabetes research, died Feb. 22 in Faulkner Hospital in Boston.

Hansel Mieth Hagel,88, a photographer who documented the Depression and World War II for Time, Fortune and Life magazines, died Feb. 14 at a friend's home in Santa Rosa, Calif.
