March 01, 1998|By FROM STAFF REPORTS

Matt Yinger (135) won his third title, Ronnie Howard (119), Clint Day (125) and Jason Wiles (189), all were runners-up, and heavyweight Greg Frech took third, as Francis Scott Key finished third behind champion Northern of Garrett and Williamsport in yesterday's Class 1A-2A West Region Tournament at North Hagerstown.

Yinger, ranked third in the state, improved to 23-0 with his 8-3 decision over Northern of Garrett's Jesse Shimrock, who had earlier upset No. 2-ranked Eric Rexrode of Southern of Garrett.

Yinger, a three-time Carroll County champ, has twice placed at the state tournament. Key's Brian Owings (103) was fourth as the Eagles qualified six wrestlers for next weekend's state tournament at Western Maryland.
