Bowie State hammers Livingstone to win CIAA 59-percent shooting in second half pushes 27-1 Bulldogs to 67-36 win

Tarsha Wilson scored 19 points and had 11 rebounds in leading Bowie State to its second straight Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association tournament title with a 67-36 win last night over Livingstone in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Wilson shot 8 of 11 from the field and had four steals.

The Bulldogs (27-1) also got 16 points from Brenonda Jackson, who hit all four of her three-pointers.

Bowie State, the tournament's top seed, had its largest lead of 16 points midway through the second half.

The Bulldogs shot over 59 percent (16 of 27) in the final 20 minutes and converted 9 of 11 free throws.

Livingstone, making its first appearance in the CIAA finals, (19-10) made just seven field goals in the first half, as Bowie State used a 13-4 run to go ahead 23-16 at halftime.

The Fighting Bear's leading scorer, 6-5 center Julie Torrance was held to only two points.

Tricosa Green led Livingstone with 10 points.
