Sandy Point State Park is seeking members for a committee that will review and help develop a plan for the park.
The committee will evaluate management practices within the park and develop an ecosystem management plan.
Issues to be considered include maintenance of facilities, forestry, wildlife management (including white-tailed deer), wildlife enhancement opportunities and maintenance of biodiversity and water quality.
Recreational issues include boating, swimming, picnicking, nature appreciation and fishing. Interested citizens should contact the park. A diverse membership is being sought for the 12-member committee. Information: 410-260-8007.
Professor, businessman appointed to wildlife panel
Governor Parris N. Glendening has appointed two members to the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Wildlife Advisory Commission. E. Joseph Lamp is a professor at Anne Arundel Community College, a former hunter, a member of 11 animal rights organizations and vice president of the Anne Arundel County SPCA.
Robert Gregory Jr., is a Baltimore businessman, an outdoorsman and hunter.
The Wildlife Advisory Commission has nine members, drawn from organizations that promote the future of hunting and promote the preservation of wildlife in the state.
