DePazzo withdraws house numbers bill

February 03, 1998|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

Baltimore County Councilman Louis L. DePazzo, a Dundalk Democrat, yesterday withdrew a bill to require street numbers or letters on the rear of houses served by public streets, roads or alleys.

DePazzo said he wanted to make changes in the bill, including lowering the fine for violations from $100 to $25, and allowing residents to post addresses on their back curbs or on trash cans rather than the rear of their houses if they wish. DePazzo said he hoped to introduce a revised bill at the next council meeting.

County agencies say the measure would help inspectors and emergency workers find a house from the alley side.
