Phone cables cut in Anne Arundel

Up to 3,600 Bell Atlantic customers in Anne Arundel County may have lost telephone service yesterday when contractors digging in Pasadena cut two cable lines.

Sandra Arnette, a Bell Atlantic spokeswoman, said that the cable lines serving up to 3,600 small business and residential customers were accidentally cut at Mountain Road and Edwin Raynor Boulevard about 9 a.m.

She said the exact number of affected customers could not be determined.

Service was expected to be restored by tomorrow, Arnette said.
