Cabdriver, 41, dies a day after being shot in robbery 2 sought

A 41-year-old cabdriver who was shot in the head during a robbery Thursday in Northwest Baltimore died last night.

Samuel Waweru was declared dead just before 6 p.m. at Sinai Hospital.

Police said he had been shot once behind the right ear. They would not disclose how much money was taken but said robbery was the motive.

The incident occurred about 8 p.m. in the 3500 block of Labyrinth Road, in the Cross Country neighborhood near the Baltimore County line.

After the shooting, the Checker Cab drifted across Cross Country Boulevard, went down an embankment and into a stream, police said.

Police were searching for two men who were seen running from the car just before it drifted down the embankment.
