Sykesville woman, 79, dies in 3-vehicle accident

A Sykesville woman was killed and two people were injured Wednesday evening in a three-vehicle accident on Route 97 north of Route 26 in Eldersburg.

Christine P. DuVall, 79, driver of one of the vehicles, was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after the 6: 28 p.m. accident, state police said.

Police said her vehicle, a Buick LeSabre, was southbound on Route 97 when it crossed the center line and collided head-on with a northbound dump truck.

A passenger in the car, Stewart P. Seitz Sr., 73, of Sykesville, was in critical condition yesterday at Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, a hospital spokeswoman said.

The driver of the third vehicle, Lori A. Lutz, 36, of Finksburg, was treated at Shock Trauma and released yesterday, the spokeswoman said. Her vehicle struck the rear of the Buick after its collision with the truck, police said.

The truck driver, Larry L. Brosenne, 38, of Sykesville, was not injured, police said.

Eldersburg: Officials at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church told police that money was stolen from the church between 10: 15 p.m. Tuesday and 6: 45 a.m. Wednesday. The loss was estimated at $750.
