Police Blotter is a sampling of crimes in Howard County.

Ellicott City: 2900 block of Marriottsville Road: A thief using a ladder broke a window of a house and stole a video camera, television, laptop computer and silver dollars Thursday morning.

Ellicott City: 3000 block of Oak Green Circle: Someone stole an idling 1997 Toyota Tacoma about 7 a.m. Friday.

Long Reach: 8900 block of Tamar Drive: A burglar broke a kitchen window, entered an apartment and stole cash, guns and a laptop computer early Thursday.

Oakland Mills: 5800 block Robert Oliver Place: Someone entered The Barn through an unlocked door, kicked in an interior door and stole a Sony Playstation and television about 11 a.m. Thursday.

Oakland Mills: 5800 block Stevens Forest Road: Someone stole a 1995 Geo Metro, license DNS696, Wednesday night or Thursday morning.

Harper's Choice: 5400 block of Cedar Lane: A prowler tried to pry open a home's door frame between Jan. 5 and Thursday.

Hickory Ridge: 1030 block of Hickory Ridge Road: A woman pulled into a parking space, and a robber opened her door while brandishing a handgun about 9 p.m. Wednesday. The robber stole the woman's purse and ring before fleeing.
