Gregory Harris led four Mountaineers in double figures with 19 points as Mount St. Mary's defeated visiting Central Connecticut State, 79-70, in Northeast Conference men's college basketball last night at Knott Arena.

Harris' effort offset a 29-point performance from Blue Devils sophomore Rick Mickens. The Mount (8-8, 4-3) trailed at halftime for the first time in an NEC game this season, as Mickens scored 21 to lead Central Connecticut (2-14, 1-6) to a 40-38 advantage.

The Mountaineers scored the first nine points of the second half to take a 47-40 lead. The Blue Devils scored six in a row to cut the lead to one.

The Mountaineers pulled away from there, with Tony Hayden's three-pointer giving them a 65-54 lead with 8: 37 to play.

Liberty 57, UMBC 55: Mark Reed scored 21 to lead the host Flames (6-10, 2-1) over the Retrievers (7-8, 2-3) in a Big South game. Kennedy Okafor led UMBC with 15 points.

UDC 73, Bowie State 68: Tosin Sonoiki scored 22 and Howard Brewer 14 as the Firebirds (4-14) defeated the host Bulldogs (3-11).

Dwyane Moore scored 16 and Che Evans 15 for Bowie.
