Leaner sandwich stays crisp-tender

Rush-hour Remedies

* Item: Lean Pockets Stuffed Sandwiches

* What you get: 2 servings

* Cost: About $2.60

* Preparation time: 4-5 minutes to heat two in the microwave, 20-25 minutes to heat two in toaster oven.

* Review: Realizing we want it fast but with less fat, the company that created Hot Pockets now offers a leaner pocket sandwich. "Would you believe a crispy, flaky tender crust from a microwave?" reads the label. After tasting the turkey, broccoli and cheese as well as the Philly steak and cheese flavors, I'm a believer. Slip the sandwich into its cardboard crisping sleeve, nuke it and you'll get a tender-crusted pocket with a sufficiently tasty filling. Chunks of crisp-tender broccoli make for a nice consistency in the turkey sandwich, and the Philly steak has plenty of sharp cheese. Each has 260 calories, fewer than a third from fat.
