Valley Centre shopping center in Owings Mills is expanding with a new restaurant, an enlarged supermarket and new tenants, First Washington Realty Trust Inc., the owner, said yesterday.

Weis Markets increased its store size to 52,000 square feet. New features include an expanded delicatessen with prepared meals, larger kosher and produce sections and a custom butcher shop and seafood case.

First Washington is building a TGI Friday's restaurant at the entrance to the Reisterstown Road center, which should be complete in the spring. The real estate company also expanded T. J. Maxx to 32,000 square feet.

New tenants at the center -- home to Ross, Annie Sez and Sony Theatres -- include Countrywide Mortgage, Jenny Craig and Sunny's Outdoor Store.

First Washington owns and manages supermarket-anchored neighborhood centers, including the Festival at Woodholme on Reisterstown Road and the Southside Shopping Center in South Baltimore.

"We endeavor to enhance these centers over time," said Stuart Halpert, chairman of the Bethesda-based real estate investment trust.
