A 30-year-old Anne Arundel County man and two people from the Baltimore area have been arrested in connection with the armed robbery Jan. 11 of a Howard County Valu Food supermarket, police reported yesterday.

John C. Klingelhofer of the 2900 block of Cold Spring Way in Crofton; Valerie L. Wolf, 24, of the 3000 block of Elizabeth Ave. in Southwest Baltimore; and Larry Leroy Hall, 25, of the 5400 block of Dolores Ave. in Arbutus were arrested Thursday.

Each was charged with robbery, armed robbery, kidnapping, felony theft, false imprisonment and use of a handgun in the commission of a felony and assault. They were being held last night at the Howard County Detention Center in Jessup.

According to police, two robbers wearing black clothing and ski masks and brandishing semi-automatic handguns robbed Valu Food in the 8600 block of Guilford Road in Columbia about 9: 30 p.m.

The robbers ordered four people in the store to place money from the office safe and cash drawers in a bag and then handcuffed two of them, police said. All four were forced at gunpoint to the rear of the store and barricaded in a storage room, police said.

The robbers used two-way radios to communicate with a third person who was outside the store providing information about police activity in the area, police said.
