Convenience store in Ferndale robbed

January 16, 1998|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

Two men cleared out the cash drawer at a Ferndale convenience store Wednesday, getting away with an undisclosed amount of money, county police said.

A clerk at the Royal Farms store in the 7000 block of Baltimore-Annapolis Blvd. told police that the men walked into the store just after 10 p.m., brought a bag of chips to the counter and demanded that the clerk hand over the cash in the register.

The clerk opened the register, and the men grabbed the money, then ordered the clerk to give them cigarettes and money from a nearby lottery machine. She complied, and the men fled in a black Honda Prelude, police said.

An officer on patrol saw the distressed clerk standing in the parking lot a few minutes later. He was unable to find them.
