Economic Authority seeks award nominations

The Howard County Economic Development Authority invites nominations for its Fourth Annual Equal Business Opportunity Awards.

Nominations must be submitted by Thursday.

The '98 Awards program will honor leaders of Howard County's minority business community in six categories: Outstanding Minority Owned Business; Outstanding Woman Owned Business; Outstanding Disabled Owned Business; Outstanding Corporation; Outstanding Individual within a Corporation; and Outstanding Individual in Government.

Village Lock and Key joins security network

Village Lock and Key Inc. of Columbia has joined a national security network which allows customers to dial a national, toll-free number -- 800-UNLOCKS -- for emergency lock services.

A certified locksmith will be sent to the emergency. Identification is required for opening a house or vehicle.


Jenny Huff, a graduate of Salisbury State University, has joined Fidelity Mortgage Decisions as an account executive. The company, which is based in Columbia, plans to open a new location in Baltimore County early this year.
