Salisbury State falls St. Mary's wins 6th in row

Brandon Jones scored a game-high 39 points last night as Christopher Newport overcame a 20-point deficit to beat host Salisbury State, 115-113.

Salisbury's Eric Prendeville missed two free throws with 15 seconds left and Newport leading 114-113, and the Sea Gulls missed a half-court shot at the buzzer.

Newport (10-1) erased a 31-11 first-half deficit with a 31-13 run, but the Sea Gulls (5-5) responded with a 25-15 burst to take a 69-57 lead at halftime.

George Robinson led the Sea Gulls with 25 points.

St. Mary's 80, Washington and Lee 62: Prince Inniss scored 24 on 11-for-13 shooting as the Seahawks won their sixth straight.

St. Mary's (6-3) led 35-26 at halftime and shot 74 percent in the second half.

Bowie State 69, District of Columbia 61: Damien Keyes scored 18 and the Bulldogs (3-6) held on for a road victory. UDC's Howard Brewer made five of 11 three-point tries to lead all scorers with 20.

James Johns grabbed 11 rebounds for UDC.

Marymount, Va. 73, Villa Julie 71: Brock Jourdan missed a three-pointer at the buzzer as the Mustangs fell at home. Kelly Matthews (Lansdowne) led Villa Julie with 25 points.

Towson at Maine, ppd. -- Last night's game at Alfond Arena in Orono, Maine, was postponed because of icy conditions and will be played today at 2 p.m.
