Hurricanes: Keith Primeau has scored a goal in four straight games after going through a 15-game drought. Carolina was 0-for-2 on power plays and is 0-for-17 over a four-game span. The team had scored two goals or fewer in 26 of its first 42 games, but exploded for four in the second period -- its highest-scoring 20-minute span of the season.

Senators: Ron Tugnutt came into the game with a 1.88 goals-against average, but gave up four goals to the Hurricanes for the second time this season and was pulled after two periods. Ottawa was 0-for-3 on the power play and is scoreless in 16 straight man-advantage opportunities.
