Man, 85, killed, wife seriously hurt in attack at home

An elderly man was killed and his wife seriously injured last night when they were attacked in their Northeast Baltimore home by an assailant they knew, police said.

Detective Robert Bowman of the homicide unit said James Taylor, 85, of the 5600 block of Todd Ave. was pronounced dead at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center about 9: 40 p.m. and '' Augusta Taylor, 76, was in guarded condition at Bayview with a stab wound to the upper torso.

Bowman said Mr. Taylor was stabbed in the chest shortly after 8: LTC p.m. during an argument in the living room. His wife heard the commotion, went to the room and was assaulted, he said.
