Saltwater tournament will offer tutors, advice

Each year, the Maryland Saltwater Sportfishermen's Association holds a spring tournament on Maryland's waters of the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries. This year, the state's largest fishing organization is offering a tournament tutoring program it hopes will improve the competition and increase membership.

MSSA's Partner Program has enlisted a number of volunteers from chapters around the state to give advice on terminal tackle, equipment, electronics, trolling speed and patterns, lures and other techniques such as chumming.

Instructors also will share their knowledge of when and where to fish for the best results.

To participate in the Partner Program or the spring tournament (May 16-17), anglers must be members of the MSSA.

For membership information, tournament entry information or volunteer partners in your area, call the MSSA at 410-768-8666.
