December 28, 1997

A 36-year-old Pasadena man was arrested on Christmas after his landlord was shot after breaking up his tenant's party and threatening to evict him from the residence they share, county police said.

Edgar Sewell Hubbard of the 7800 block of E. Shore Road was charged with two counts of attempted murder, first-degree assault and reckless endangerment in the shooting.

His landlord, Guy Michael Shuck, suffered a minor wound. He was treated at North Arundel Hospital and released.

Police said Shuck and his wife returned home a little after 8 p.m. Thursday to find Hubbard inside drinking with four men. Shuck ordered the men to leave the residence and told Hubbard to move out within 30 days, police said.

When Shuck and his wife began clearing beer cans and trash from the kitchen, police said, Hubbard returned from his room with a single barrel, 12-gauge shotgun.

Shuck, shot in the chest, punched Hubbard in the eye, police said.

Hubbard was arrested at the scene.
