Scott Brinitzer is elected president of landscapers group

The Landscape Contractors Association of Maryland, D.C. and Virginia elected Scott Brinitzer of Scott Brinitzer Design Associates of Arlington, Va., president during a recent meeting at the Gaithersburg Marriott Washingtonian Center.

Other officers for 1998 include Jeff Topley, The Brickman Group Ltd. of Laurel, vice president; Jack Hickman, Chesapeake Lawn Care Inc. of Baltimore, secretary; and Jack Baur, Jack Baur Horticulturist Inc. of Rockville, immediate past president.

New directors include: Howard Burrill, Lakeside Gardens, Mount Airy; John Driscoll, Potomac Landscape Contractors Inc., Beallsville; Bryan Hockenberry, H & H Grounds Maintenance Inc., Germantown; Gary Mangum, Bell Nursery Inc., Burtonsville; Michael McCartin, Joseph W. McCartin Insurance, Beltsville; Jeffrey Potter, J & G Landscape Design Inc., Silver Spring; Lisa Stadler, Stadler Nursery, Laytonsville; and Jeff Waters, Shemin Nurseries Inc., Burtonsville.

Workshop presents auction information

"All About Auctions" is the title of a free workshop scheduled for 7: 30 p.m. Jan. 8 at Bibelot in the Harford Mall Annex on Boulton Street in Bel Air.

Auctioneer Ann von Forthuber will speak about real estate and personal property auctions. She is the owner of Auctions & Estate Representatives and co-host of "Have Gavel Will Travel" on radio station 680 WCBM-AM.

The Bozzuto Group won a 1997 Builder of the Year Award in the Large Volume Builder category from the Suburban Maryland Building Industry Association. The award cites the Greenbelt firm for "overall excellence in scheduling, supervision, engineering, quality control and ethics."

The Maryland Association of Home Inspectors appointed Gary L. Anderson of Building Specs of Owings as its secretary. Anderson, a former treasurer for the group, replaces Ron Katz.

Monument Mortgage of Largo has created a "Loans by Phone" program designed to offer borrowers a fast alternative in obtaining a home loan. Monument takes the application by phone and then mails the documents overnight to the client with a return envelop. There are no application fees. W. F. Chesley Real Estate said Shirley Cohens joined its Crofton office as a sales associate. Cohens was formerly with Realty Executives.

Douglas Homes of Ellicott City appointed Donna L. Bruhn sales manager for Pointers Run and Hobbit's Glenn in Columbia. Bruhn previously sold new homes with Ryland Homes.
