Calvert Hall, St. Frances win in OT Baltimore teams advance in Slam Dunk To Beach competition in Delaware

Fred Biggs scored a team-high 21 points and Reggie Bryant added 20 as Calvert Hall, ranked eighth in the Baltimore Metro area, defeated St. John-Neumann of Philadelphia, 67-64, in overtime in the Slam Dunk To The Beach tournament at Cape Henlopen High School in Lewes, Del.

Delbert Rendell chipped in 10 points and a team-high seven rebounds for the Cardinals, who will face Lebanon (Pa.) at 4: 30 p.m. tomorrow.

In the same tournament, St. Frances, the No. 2-ranked team in Baltimore, also won in overtime, beating Gonzaga of D.C., 67-66.

Henderson-Neal

Northern 70, Carver 61: Miguel Wilson scored a game-high 30 points but it wasn't enough as Northern defeated host Carver in the opening round.

Donte Pennix led Northern with 25 points and Antron Marshall scored 12.

Northern moves into today's championship game, where it will face Northwestern, which advanced by forfeit after Patterson failed to show up for its first-round game.

Tavon McCoy added 14 points for Carver.

Eastern Tech Classic

Kenwood 49, Fallston 44: Chris Bell scored 16 points in a losing effort for the Cougars. Fallston led, 26-19 at the half, before Kenwood went on a 16-7 scoring run in which it made 10 of 12 free throws.

Eastern Tech 73, Carver A&T 45: Anthony Lawston led the Mustangs (6-1) with 16 points and Steve Lawston added 11 as Tech advanced to its tourney final at 7: 45 tonight.

Hereford Tournament

Hereford 49, Loch Raven 39: Luke Gilbert scored 18 points and had 13 rebounds to lead the host Bulls into the championship game against Liberty tonight at 8 p.m. Jason Wingeart scored 13 points and dished out seven assists for Hereford.

Liberty 64, Perry Hall 62: Matt Wilder had a game-high 28 points for the Lions, who advanced to the tournament championship. Darral Soltau had 19 points and Matt Kelly for Perry Hall.

Holiday Hoops Tournament

No. 14 Seton Keough 48, Gwynn Park 41: Sarah Walsh had 13 points, and Laura Stromberg added 10 as the Gators (3-4) dropped Gwynn Park (4-2) in the first round at McDonough High in Charles County. Seton Keough plays the winner of the Churchill- McDonough game today in the semifinals at 6 p.m.

Lady Cougar Classic

South Carroll 51, Northwestern 46: Danielle Caballero scored 11 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Cavaliers (2-3) into the finals against the winner of Urbana-Middletown.

Mount Hebron Classic

Mt. Hebron 74, Montross 25: Lauren Kickham scored 14 points, and Courtney Lombard had 11, as the Vikings (5-2) dropped Montrose (2-3) to earn a birth in the finals against City today.

City 69, Chapelgate 18: Candice Johnson scored 29 points, and Rolynda Contee added 24 to lead the Knights over the Flames in the semifinals.

Eastern Tech Classic

Eastern Tech 52, Carver A&T 22: Elisha Carter had 23 points and seven rebounds to lead the Mavericks over the Wildcats. Jen Betkey grabbed 13 rebounds for Eastern Tech, which plays Kenwood for the championship at 6 p.m. today.

Woodlawn Tournament

Woodlawn 84, Towson Catholic 22: Five players scored in double figures as Woodlawn advanced past Towson Catholic. Mandy Clark led all scorers with 14 points, followed by Stephanie Johnson (13), Stephanie McPherson (12) and Anita Smith (11).
