UMBC romps by Quinnipiac State men

Freshman center Kennedy Okafor had 21 points and 10 rebounds to lead UMBC to an 80-64 win last night over Quinnipiac at UMBC Fieldhouse.

The Retrievers (4-5) never trailed, building a 25-11 lead midway through the first half.

The Braves (1-8) were led by Rich Anderson, who hit four three-pointers and scored 22 points.

Okafor was 9-for-12 from the floor in his sixth double double in nine games.

Retrievers freshman guard Tim Hyland hit five threes en route to a season-high 19 points. Rich Giddens was 7-for-9 and scored 18.

Ivoree Stanley led Quinnipiac with 13 points.

Duquesne 85, Morgan State 78: Nick Bosnic's 18 points led five players in double figures as host Duquesne (5-5) defeated the Bears (1-9). Tremain Byrd led all scorers with 25 points for Morgan State, which led 47-45 at halftime.

Duquesne out-rebounded the Bears 50-36, and got 28 points off 20 Morgan State turnovers.
