Zoning board approves professional office in home

December 23, 1997

The Carroll County Board of Zoning Appeals has approved conditional request by Audrey Shaffer for a professional office at her home in Hampstead.

Shaffer wants to open an accounting and tax service at 4300 Black Rock Road, in a residential district. Most of the business would be done by mail or at her cli- ents' offices, rather than at her home.

A variance was requested for lot size and side yard requirements because the house was built before the current zoning regulations were enacted.

The request was approved on the condition that no Sunday hours be kept, no more than one employee be hired and a turnaround be provided for vehicles so they don't have to back onto Black Rock Road.
