First Md. Bancorp names John A. Emens to executive position


First Maryland Bancorp has named John A. Emens as executive vice president.

The Western Maryland College graduate joined the Baltimore-based bank holding company in 1977 and assumed responsibility for its corporate and its international banking group in 1996. He was formerly an assistant vice president at Marine Midland of Buffalo, N.Y.

A decorated U.S. Army captain (Bronze and Silver stars), he sits on the Kennedy Krieger Institute board of directors and is vice chairman of the Salvation Army of Greater Baltimore advisory board and a trustee of Western Maryland College.

JP Foodservice retains Gillison as treasurer

JP Foodservice Inc. retained Robert W. Gillison as treasurer of the Columbia-based food distributor.

Gillison joined JP after 11 years with NationsBank, most recently as senior vice president in corporate finance. At NationsBank, he had worked extensively with JP since the company's leveraged buyout in 1989.

L He is a 1982 graduate of Davidson College in North Carolina.

Gaunt, Wildberger assigned to 1st Mariner branches

1st Mariner Bank selected Linda J. Gaunt as a vice president and manager of its Lutherville branch, with responsibility for operations and business development, and Sandy Wildberger was named an assistant vice president and assigned as manager of the Merritt Park Shopping Center branch.

Each woman was with First National Bank of Maryland, resides in Baltimore County and has 20 years of banking experience.

Health care

Boyce gains position with Genesis ElderCare

Genesis ElderCare named Catherine J. Boyce vice president of community care services for the Chesapeake region. She will direct implementation of services in Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia. A Baltimore resident, she was formerly a vice president at St. Agnes Hospital. The Medical College of Virginia graduate is a member of the American College of Health Care Executives and the Society of Ambulatory Care Professionals, a unit of the American Hospital Association.


Frank Hajek and Associates hires R. Richard Welch Jr.

Frank Hajek & Associates hired R. Richard Welch Jr. as an accounting manager at the Bel Air-based accounting firm. A certified public accountant, Welch resides in Bel Air.

Commercial real estate

H&R Retail picks Davidson as leasing representative

H&R Retail, a Lutherville commercial real estate firm that specializes in retail store sites, has chosen Jennifer L. Davidson as a leasing representative. She will assist in site selection and marketing as well as small store leasing and tenant representation. A graduate of James Madison University, the Fairfax resident had been a financial analyst and special projects manager for the Washington-based Grosvenor International Limited.
