Athletics: Released OF Patrick Lennon. Agreed to terms with 1B-3B Mike Blowers, who had been with Mariners, and LHP Mike Mohler.

Blue Jays: Named Darren Balsley major-league advance scout.

Cardinals: Placed IF Roberto Mejia on waivers for purpose of giving him his unconditional release.

Mariners: Designated OF Decomba Conner for assignment.

Marlins: Acquired Single-A P Mark Johnson, first-round pick in 1996 amateur draft, from Astros to complete Nov. 11 Moises Alou trade.

Padres: Agreed to terms with P Pete Smith.

Rangers: Sold contract of P Keiichi Kojima to Chunichi of Japanese Central League.

Royals: Named Tom Burgmeier bullpen coach.


Mavericks: Activated G Robert Pack from injured list. Placed G Erick Strickland on injured list with sprained right ankle.


Brown: Football coach Mark Whipple resigned to accept same position at Massachusetts.

Delaware: Senior G Keisha McFadgion has returned to women's basketball team.
