Baltimore County police seeking man suspected in series of purse snatchings

December 17, 1997|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

Baltimore County police are seeking a man implicated in at least some of nearly two dozen purse snatchings from Maiden Choice Lane in Catonsville to Revere Court in White Marsh since late September.

The main suspect is described as black, 26 to 35 years old, of thin to medium build, 5 feet 8 inches to 6 feet 2 inches tall and possibly wearing a knit hat or baseball cap. Police do not know whether one man is responsible for all of the robberies.

Police said victims have been surprised entering or leaving their cars, or walking to or from their cars. The robber either shows a handgun or grabs a purse and flees, police said. Some victims apparently were followed home from shopping.

Anyone with information on the purse snatchings is asked to call county police at 410-887-2198.
