Rush-Hour Remedies

* Item: Near East Pasta

* Servings per package: 3

* Cost: $1.99

* Preparation time: about 15 minutes

* Review: In addition to its boxed couscous and pilaf, Near East now offers pasta blends, such as vermicelli with roasted garlic and olive oil and radiatore pasta with basil and herb. We sampled the angel-hair pasta with spicy tomato and the fusilli with Parmesan and Romano. Each was a breeze to prepare, and the kids wolfed them down. But at $1.99 for three servings, I was disappointed. Several other brands of pasta and sauce taste fresher and cost less.
