County police arrested an Edgewater man on disorderly conduct charges after they found him running and screaming in a field off Solomons Island Road in Harwood.

Police said they arrested Robert Richard Johnson, 35, of the 1600 block of Shady Side Road.

A resident of the 4300 block of Solomons Island Road called police about 10: 30 p.m. to report a screaming man. When police got to the field near Harwood Road, the man was near a van with a broken windshield parked on the shoulder, police said.

When the man saw the officer, he ran through the field screaming, police said. Officer Donald Pearson chased and caught the man and arrested him.

Pearson later spoke to the man's wife, who said she had been driving her husband from a party because he had been drinking, became violent and kicked the windshield, shattering it.

The woman said she pulled over, took the keys and left.

Police searching for man who robbed crafts store

A man with a pistol in his waistband robbed a cashier at a Glen Burnie crafts store Thursday of an undisclosed amount of money, county police said.

The man stood in front of a cashier at Total Crafts in the 500 block of East Ordnance Road about 3 p.m., pulled up his shirt to show the handle of a black steel gun, and said, "If you don't want a homicide, give me the money," police said.

The cashier opened the register and the man grabbed a handful of money and fled toward Ordnance Road.

He was described as white, 20 to 25 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall, 160 pounds with short strawberry blond hair and a close-cut, neatly trimmed mustache and beard. He was wearing a cream crew-neck sweater, dark pants, a black waist-length leather jacket and a dark knit hat.
