Hampton keeps Morgan State winless, 75-73 State

Tarvis Williams scored a game-high 19 points to lead Hampton University to a 75-73 win last night over visiting Morgan State in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference game.

Rasheed Sparks led the Bears with 18 points and was one of four Morgan players in double figures. Sparks made seven of 10 field goals and had a team-high eight rebounds.

The Bears trailed by eight at halftime before rallying to tie the game at 69 with 2: 37 left. Hampton (3-3, 1-0) regained the lead, however, keeping the Bears (0-8, 0-1) winless this season.

The Pirates 58 percent (14-for-24) in the first half for a 41-33 halftime lead.

Washington College 98, Neumann 66: Senior guard Ben Harris and freshman guard Greg Adams each scored 19, as the host Shoremen (4-3) won a nonconference game. Washington College shot 53 percent (36-for-67) for the game and forced 21 turnovers.

Women

Hampton 68, Morgan State 56: Felicia Bryant led all scorers with 20 points as the host Pirates (3-3, 0-1) won a MEAC game.

Howard 58, UMES 56: Alisha Hill had 31 points and 14 rebounds as the Bison held on for a MEAC win over the host Hawks.
