Parade of Trees contest winners will be on display until Jan. 2

December 12, 1997

Savage Mill has announced the winners of its Parade of Trees contest. The winners -- in the categories of most beautiful, most creative, most original and a children's category -- were announced at the mill's Nov. 14 open house.

First prize in the most beautiful category went to the American Heart Association tree, which was decorated with tiny silver hearts. The tree was sponsored by Antique Center II.

Habitat for Humanity's tree -- which illustrated the group's work building and renovating homes for low-income families -- was first in the most creative category.

Most original was Animal Rescue Inc. The group won first place for a tree decorated with balls of yarn, kitten and puppy ornaments and pet treats.

First place in the children's category went to Bethel Christian Academy. Its tree was decorated by the school's children.

The contest is designed to help community charities raise funds.

The trees will remain on display until Jan. 2. Information: 410-792-2820 or 800-788-MILL.
