Tulsa uses bench to drop Morgan, 93-56 Hurricane reserves score 43 points

Reserve center Jay Spurlock scored the first 19 points of his college career and Tulsa's bench outscored its counterpart 43-18 in a 93-56 victory last night over winless Morgan State in Oklahoma.

Rod Thompson and backup forward John Cornwell added 15 points each for the Hurricane (6-2), which hit five three-point shots in the first six minutes to take a 15-9 lead and never trailed.

Rasheed Sparks scored 13 points to pace Morgan State (0-7).

Women

No. 9 Virginia 63, Mount St. Mary's 37: DeMya Walker had 19 points and 17 rebounds and the Cavaliers (7-1) limited the Mountaineers (1-5) to 18 percent shooting in Charlottesville, Va.

Walker was 8-for-9 from the field and had seven assists, six blocked shots and two steals in 32 minutes for Virginia, which led 31-15 at halftime.

Megan Gardiner led Mount St. Mary's with 13 points.
