Student musicians to perform Saturday

December 09, 1997|By FROM STAFF REPORTS

More than 200 student musicians will perform Saturday in a concert by the All County Orchestra, made up of students chosen after auditions in October.

The 7 p.m. program in South River High School's auditorium will feature the Mid-Level Orchestra -- nearly 100 sixth-, seventh-and eighth-graders -- and the High School Orchestra.

The younger group, conducted by Micah Levy of the Washington Chamber Symphony, will perform with some of the middle school music teachers playing instruments not usually found in the orchestra.

Robert McCashin, director of orchestras at James Madison University in Virginia, will conduct the high school musicians.

Admission is a $2 donation at the door. The high school is off Central Avenue in Edgewater.
