Dec. 9: THE DREYFUS AFFAIR -- The French Senate, agreeing with the Chamber of Deputies, supports the government in refusing to reopen the case of Captain Dreyfus, convicted some years ago by a military court of selling to a foreign government copies of documents containing the military plans for the defense of certain parts of France.
