A man with a knife raped a woman in a Glen Burnie apartment laundry room Monday, and police fear he might be the same man who raped two women at gunpoint in the spring, county police said.

Anne Arundel detectives are also investigating the possibility the suspect may be a man sought in rapes earlier this year in another state.

The victims all gave similar descriptions of their assailant and told officers he seemed very calm and spoke in a soft voice.

Police said he used a similar method of operation in all the cases. Monday's incident occurred in the apartment complex where one of the attacks took place in the spring, police said.

According to a police report, a woman who worked at Americana Southdale apartments was in the laundry room of a building in the 7800 block of Americana Circle shortly after 10 a.m. when a man walked in.

The woman went on a break and returned to the laundry room a short time later to find the man pulling clothes out of a dryer, police said.

She resumed her cleaning, and the man approached, placed a small pocketknife to her neck and raped her, police said.

The laundry room is in a building directly across from another laundry room where a man with a gun raped another apartment employee April 10, police said.

That woman was cleaning the laundry room shortly before 2 p.m. when a man approached, held a silver gun to her head and raped her, police said.

An hour earlier, a woman was raped in her apartment in the 300 block of Gatewater Court after she brought groceries into her ground-level apartment through a sliding glass door, police said.

According to a report, the man walked in through the unlocked door and approached the woman with a silver handgun while she was in her bedroom. The man threatened to kill her if she cried out, pushed her onto a pile of clothing and raped her, police said.

The assailant in all three cases is described as black, about 25 years old and 6 feet tall with a stocky build, a thin mustache, clean-cut hair and a dark-blue knit cap. The man in the attacks in April was described as wearing a black, three-quarter-length leather coat. The suspect Monday wore a brown leather jacket and a dark blue sweat suit.
