Maintenance man shot fatally at apartments

A maintenance man working on plumbing in an apartment building near Reisterstown was fatally shot in the head yesterday by an assailant who came and went on a bicycle, Baltimore County police said.

Kevin Ricardo Reynolds, 37, of the first block of Brookebury Drive was taken to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center, said police Sgt. Kevin Novak. He died at the hospital last night.

Reynolds, who worked for Winthrop Management Co. at the Owings Manor Apartments, was called to the 100 block of Brookebury Drive for a plumbing problem, Novak said.

"He had been in and out of the basement several times, going to his van. A man approached him outside and shot at him several times," Novak said.

Reynolds fell, Novak said, and the gunman fled on the bicycle, which he abandoned nearby. Police mounted an air-and-ground search but could not find him.

Police described the gunman as black, in his late 20s, 6 feet 1 inch tall and 220 pounds, wearing dark pants, jacket and cap.
