November 29, 1997

Today: A field of 12 was entered for the 13th running of the Carousel Stakes for 3-year-olds and up fillies and mares. The Grade III event carries a $100,000 purse and will be contested over a mile and one eighth. Double Stake, Winter Melody and Crafty will receive the bulk of the play. Tomorrow: 2-year-old fillies are featured in the $60,000 Heavenly Cause Stakes, a seven-furlong sprint for registered Maryland-breds. Belles Champ, from the Willow Creek Farm, is the likely choice in the field of 12. Unbeaten after two races, the daughter of Clever Champ will be again be handled by jockey Steve Hamilton. She is trained by Carlos Carcia. Roses For Alyse also may be one to consider.
