Boat beat: It's going to be a frustrating couple of days ahead for the last three boats still at sea. Current weather patterns all the way into Fremantle would delight a vacationing sailor, but not the racers. "Light winds, that's what they're in for," said George Caras of Commanders' Weather. "The high pressure north of them is situated from 25 S to about 99 E, and there's a ridge access that extends all the way to just south-southwest of the Australian coast."

Weather: The main high will continue to the fleet's north. Note: Information compiled from the Whitbread Round the World Race Web site at www.whitbread.org
