Coppin women lose Ritchie for season

November 26, 1997|By FROM STAFF REPORTS

Coppin State junior guard Alicia Ritchie, who averaged a team-best 2.5 assists last season, will miss the rest of this season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee Wednesday in the Eagles' season-opening win against Western Carolina.

Ritchie, who had started 28 straight games, drove toward the basket with about 13 minutes left in the first half, and her knee gave out as she planted to pass.

A magnetic resonance imaging Monday confirmed the injury.
