A Pumphrey youth was charged with shooting a neighbor--

during an argument Sunday, police said.

Levar Ebron, 16, of the 200 block of Bolivar Ave. was charged as an adult with attempted first-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault and use of a handgun in the commission of a felony.

Charlie Brown, 42, was in critical condition at Maryland Shock Trauma Center with a gunshot wound to the abdomen, police said.

Ebron told police that he got into an argument with Brown when the older man confronted him at Hoffman and Berlin roads and asked him to return a borrowed $10, according to court records said.

The teen-ager was struck with a stick, and Brown was shot once with a .25-caliber handgun, the court documents state.

Police said the teen-ager turned himself in and gave a statement on the shooting.
