A 39-year-old Northwest Baltimore man was struck fatally yesterday as he ran across the street in front of his house, city police said.

John Warren Evans ran into the left front fender of a southbound 1997 Ford Explorer as he attempted to get across the 3400 block of Park Heights Ave. shortly after 5 p.m., according to police.

The victim was taken by ambulance to Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after the accident.

Police said pedestrian error appeared to be the cause of the accident, and that no charges had been filed against the driver of the Explorer.
