Hampstead man receives 1-year term

A Hampstead man, who pleaded guilty in July to possession of cocaine and drunken driving, was sentenced yesterday to a year in the Carroll County Detention Center. Six-month terms for each charge were made consecutive.

Brian K. King, 35, formerly lived in Sykesville, where he was stopped on Route 26 for erratic driving Jan. 5, court records show.

Police reported finding three grams of crack cocaine in his pocket after he refused to take a Breathalyzer test and was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated.

Fire

Lineboro: Firefighters from Manchester and Lineboro assisted York County, Pa., at 2: 35 a.m. yesterday, responding to a shed fire on Grave Run Road. Units were out more than three hours.
