Police Blotter is a sampling of crimes in Howard County.

Ellicott City: 12600 block of Frederick Road: Someone broke into a storage garage belonging to Van Sant Plumbing between Friday and Sunday and stole tools.

Ellicott City: 6400 block of Distant Melody Place: Someone broke into a house under construction Saturday or Sunday and stole a furnace. There was no sign of forced entry.

Long Reach: 8800 block of Centre Park Drive: A white 1997 GMC Sonoma truck, Maryland license plate 19D361, was stolen Monday.

Harper's Choice: 5400 block of Cedar Lane: A man was assaulted and robbed of $50 Monday while walking through the Waverly Winds development. Police said the man was hit in the head and face and sprayed with mace.

Hickory Ridge: 11200 block of Peartree Way: An intruder ran out of a house Monday after being confronted by the homeowner. There was no sign of forced entry.

Town Center: 12200 block of Little Patuxent Parkway: Someone broke into and ransacked an apartment Monday.

Wilde Lake: 5600 block of Open Sky: A green 1994 Jeep Cherokee, Maryland license plate 855519M, was stolen Monday.
