Howard County police arrested a 16-year-old Columbia boy last week in connection with two robberies in Hickory Ridge village.

The first robbery took place at 7: 50 p.m. Saturday in the 10900 block of Trotting Ridge Way. Police said a man approached a woman and her male companion in a parking lot.

The man grabbed the woman, held a knife to her throat and threw her to the ground, a police report said.

As the assailant held the woman down, her companion offered the knife-wielder $28. Police said the attacker took the money and ran across Little Patuxent Parkway.

About 6: 55 p.m. the next day, a man broke into a house in the 11200 block of Crystal Run and threatened to kill a female resident if she didn't give him cash, police said. Others in the house looked for money, police said, but the assailant fled with nothing.
